A HISTORICAL OVERVIEW

Grounding sheets are a difficult product to manufacture if you want long-lasting functional durability. It all started with Clint Ober in the USA, who developed his first cotton sheet with 3% untreated silver thread for research purposes. Everyone who participated in the research studies wanted to keep their sheets after the study was completed. Their relatives and friends, who heard about the often spectacular results of the research, also wanted sheets, so Clint Ober eventually started manufacturing these sheets for sale and his company in the USA got off the ground despite him being retired.

Earthingpeople (formerly The Seeing Eye) started in the spring of 2011, a few years after Earthing in the USA, when I, Anders Blomqvist, got my life back thanks to grounding with the help of one of Clint Ober's sheets. It was about many years of health problems due to mercury poisoning from a large number of amalgam fillings. Severe pain and stiffness in the body prevented morning yoga, extreme susceptibility to infections created major problems with constant colds, sleep disturbances and fatigue lowered the quality of life, and pollen allergy which I had started medicating for the year before. Despite the removal of all fillings in 2006–07 and 6 years of detoxification, I was completely exhausted.

The first night on the grounding sheet I slept for 12 hours without waking up and so it continued. In two weeks 80% of the stiffness and pain as well as the pollen allergy disappeared. Over a few years the susceptibility to infections disappeared and now I rarely get a cold. I decided to import and resell their products with the goal of helping other people achieve better health and to spread information about how important grounding is for all the body's functions and an effective immune system.

Clint Ober's sheets worked perfectly at first. Customers reported fantastic improvements in their lives, everyone was satisfied but after a year the weaknesses in its construction began to show. In many people the silver threads oxidized very quickly and sometimes the contact between the rubber patch with the snap button and the sheet disappeared almost immediately. The problems were pointed out but the manufacturer did nothing about it.

When the quality of their sheets deteriorated and they developed large holes in the fabric within a year of use, it was time to leave Earthing.com and try to find someone who manufactured good quality. This was 2016, after 5 years with Earthing's products. A search that led to Australia and the company Better Earthing.

2016. EVOLUTION GROUNDING SHEET WITH 50% SILVER THREAD

A sheet with 50% silver thread and 50% Tencel was purchased from Australia and after a short test period it was obvious – time to start a collaboration. Now all our products are manufactured by Better Earthing, a company that works with the goal of manufacturing the best grounding products on the market.

At the same time as we changed suppliers in 2016, Earthing in the USA stopped manufacturing grounding sheets and in 2019 Chinese copies of their cotton sheets with 3% silver thread began to appear. Identical copies with the same problems as the original sheets – oxidation of untreated silver thread and poor contact between the rubber patch and the sheet. The now over 560 companies that sell cotton sheets with 3-10% silver thread all get their sheets from a few large weaving mills in China, regardless of what they claim on their websites.

If you have such a sheet, it is important to check the conductivity after every wash with a product tester or multimeter. Measure between the snap button and the threads in the middle of the sheet where you lie. Also test the cords as they often stop working due to poor quality.

To avoid the problem of bad cords, we do not buy them from China and we pay more to get high quality. We use a stronger 10 mm snap button that fits much better. At the other end we use 4 mm female and male contacts that are industry standard. The cords are reinforced with extra metal where the copper wires meet the contacts. All products from Earthing in the USA and all Chinese copies use a 4 mm snap button and 4.7 mm male and female contacts.

2020. PREMIUM GROUNDING SHEET WITH 20% STAINLESS FIBER

We raised the bar even further in 2020 with the new Premium series which has solid stainless fiber of surgical steel instead of silver. It is our product developer in Australia who has worked hard for over two years to develop a fabric with stainless fiber of surgical steel to make sheets that are less sensitive and more long-lasting.

As a base we continued to use Tencel which is one of the most environmentally friendly threads on the market, made from FSA-certified forest in closed systems. To make the sheets as antibacterial as our silver sheets we have included 10% antibacterial mineral fiber from Germany.

The fabric is certified by Intertek Global to kill MRSA bacteria by 99.94% in laboratory tests. Something that cheap sheets with 3–10% silver thread can never achieve.

The patented Earthshield material has been developed to avoid the problems that silver thread has. These sheets can be placed under your regular fitted sheet, just like with our Evolution silver sheets. This first series of steel sheets requires sheet tensioners to be kept smooth.

Unlike sheets with silver thread, you do not need to worry about the degradation or loss of conductivity from different ingredients in skincare products, face creams, oils, magnesium oil, sulfur in sweat, skin and hair oils, bleach, whitening agents or other  silver-destroying substances.

2022. PREMIUM v2 GROUNDING SHEET

The development of new fabrics continued and in December 2022 came the latest fabric to make grounded sheets. Premium v2 is a strong canvas-like fabric with a higher percentage of stainless steel fibers of surgical steel. These sheets do not require sheet tensioners like the earlier 2020 variant as some customers found them cumbersome to attach.

Our sheets are easy to care for and are not sensitive to sulfur in sweat and skin oil, chemicals in skin creams or different types of detergents. 

These sheets are fine to sleep directly on but the fabric is a bit rough at first, so we recommend letting your legs rest directly on the sheet and having a pajama top or a regular sheet under your back for maximum comfort if you use a flat sheet.

If you have the universal sheet, place it across the lower part of the bed so that your legs rest directly on the sheet. If you want to use a regular cotton sheet on top, place it either across the middle of the bed or along.

Premium v2+ sheets can be washed with color detergent on a delicate cycle at 30–60 degrees. Spin at the lowest speed and then hang up to dry. They are easy to iron on the synthetic setting.

2024. PREMIUM v2+ GROUNDING SHEET WITH 35% STAINLESS FIBER AND TENCEL

After another 2 years of development work by our manufacturer in Australia, we have now developed a new variant of the incredibly effective and durable Premium v2 fabric which we have chosen to call v2+.

It contains 35% fibers of surgical steel and 65% Tencel, of which approx. 10% is certified antibacterial, treated with zinc oxide which is also good for the skin. The advantages are that this fabric breathes better and has been manufactured with refined spinning and weaving techniques. Due to the unique properties of Tencel, the fabric feels very soft and comfortable.

2026. DELUXE SHEET WITH 40% STEEL FIBER

The goal is to create the ultimate grounding sheet so our product developer  in Australia has refined the v2+ fabric a bit by increasing to 40% fibers of surgical steel, 10% cotton and 50% Tencel of which 10% is antibacterial. The Deluxe fabric is also a bit thicker. Without bragging, we can safely say that these are the best and most long-lasting grounding sheets in the world which are also the easiest to care for. 

Our sheets are worth more than what we sell them for because they are guaranteed not to oxidize or stop being conductive. Maximum durability and high quality cost a little more but it always pays off in the long run to invest in quality sheets that last year after year without problems. It is an investment for health after all.
