Smile book

I published the Smile book as a counterbalance to all the distorted images from poor countries that the mass media feeds us. Before I started Earthingpeople in 2011 I spent many years in various so-called developing countries as a freelance documentary photographer and found that the people in these countries possess an enormous joy of life that comes straight from the heart. This quality is quite rare in our modern, high-tech and stressed society where nowadays many people spend thir time with their face glued to a flatsceen phone.

The book contains pictures of spontaneously happy people from different countries. An insightful foreword in Swedish (Sorry folks! The English edition is sold out) then leads to pictures of ordinary people I have met on my many travels, mainly in Asia. The captions only describe where and when the picture was taken. The book is designed as a perfect gift book with dimensions of 15x15 cm with 144 pages printed on thick quality paper. Smile is bound in a hard cover that guarantees that it will last for many years of browsing.

I have noticed that children are very fond of the book, especially the pictures of other children. When the book was released in 2004, it was in connection with an exhibition where 42 large pictures from the book were hung. It was fantastic to see people's reactions to the pictures. Almost everyone left the exhibition with a big smile and many came back for "a dose of good luck"
